Description
Bat Bots is a 1980s-arcade-style shooter. The emotion we’re specifically targeting is nostalgia, so this game is for an audience of people who were in their mid-late teens during the mid 1980s and often played or watched their friends play light gun shooters in arcades. We are striving to make an experience that will take them back to that retro-style arcade in modern times and activate long lost memories of them playing in the arcade as a teenager. Our family-friendly theming allows everyone in the house to enjoy this game together with its multiplayer Competitive and Defensive modes (ESRB Rating Pending).
History
Bat Bots is originally a graduate student course project at Rochester Institute of Technology. Since the initial prototyping in the fall semester of 2023 ended, Bat Bots has seen impressive growth.
Inspired by our peers' and mentors' reactions to Bat Bots, we've decided to take our game to its fullest potential by investing our entire 2024 summer into it. To prepare for this work, we've welcomed full-time backend dev and gameplay programmer Eduardo Escudero to the team.
